What is smart money?

"Smart money" refers to capital managed by institutional investors, corporate insiders, and other market participants who have demonstrated consistent edge — hedge funds, congressional members with committee positions, C-suite executives, and large block traders. Unlike retail investors who react to news, smart money tends to position ahead of moves. By monitoring the regulatory filings and exchange data these participants are legally required to disclose, it's possible to identify accumulation patterns before they become obvious to the broader market.

Flow Antenna cross-references seven data sources — congressional STOCK Act disclosures, SEC Form 4 insider filings, FINRA dark pool prints, options sweep data, EDGAR 13F institutional filings, government contract awards, and lobbying disclosures — and scores each signal by conviction. The highest scores are reserved for tickers where three or more independent sources agree.

How it works

📡

1. Seven sources monitored continuously

Congressional STOCK Act filings, SEC Form 4 insider trades, FINRA dark pool prints, options sweep data, EDGAR 13F filings, government contract awards, and lobbying disclosures — all refreshed every 15 minutes.

🔗

2. Convergence scoring

A single-source signal scores 50–65. Two independent sources pointing at the same ticker in the same week scores 75–85. Three sources converging triggers a CRITICAL alert at 85–97.

3. Quinn AI narrates the thesis

Every high-conviction signal gets a Quinn-written narrative explaining what each source saw, why the convergence is significant, and what historical patterns match the setup.

Frequently asked questions

What is "smart money" in investing?

Smart money refers to capital managed by institutional investors, corporate insiders, and other market participants who have demonstrated consistent edge — hedge funds, congressional members, C-suite executives, and large block traders. The term reflects the idea that these participants have information access, resources, or analytical capability that gives them a consistent edge over retail investors.

How do you track smart money legally?

Smart money leaves a legal footprint in public regulatory filings. Congressional trades are disclosed under the STOCK Act within 45 days. Corporate insider trades are filed on SEC Form 4 within 2 business days. Institutional holdings appear in quarterly 13F filings. Dark pool trades are reported to FINRA post-execution. Flow Antenna aggregates all of these public data sources and refreshes them every 15 minutes.

What is a convergence signal?

A convergence signal fires when two or more independent data sources — for example, a congressional trade and an unusual options sweep — point at the same ticker in the same 7-day window. Because these sources are independent of each other, their agreement significantly increases the probability of a major move. Triple-source convergence (three sources in one week) is our highest-conviction pattern.

How often does the smart money data update?

Flow Antenna refreshes all signal sources every 15 minutes during market hours. Congressional and insider filings update as EDGAR publishes new submissions, typically within minutes of filing. Options flow and dark pool prints update from live exchange data continuously during trading hours.
